Toledo Clinic's Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Department is seeking a motivated and skilled Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) to join our team as the Lead Day Technologist and DME Coordinator. This dual-role position is critical to our practice's expansion. This position will spearhead our new in-house Durable Medical Equipment (DME) service while managing clinical day studies and administrative protocols. Key responsibilities include prior authorizations and patient triage.
General Summary:
This is a dual role position. Manage clinical day studies and administrative protocals (including prior authorizations and patient triage) along with spearheading an in-house Durable Medical Equipment (DME) service.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Example of Essential Duties:

Perform and oversee daytime sleep studies, including MSLT (Multiple Sleep Latency Test), MWT (Maintenance of Wakefulness Test), and PAP naps.

Responsible for reviewing performed sleep studies for sleep staging and respiratory even scoring accuracy.

Ensure all studies are performed according to AASM standards.

Score sleep studies (if applicable) and generate technical reports.

Prior Authorizations: Secure insurance authorizations for diagnostic sleep studies, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and sleep-related medications.

Payer Communication: Handle communication with insurance providers to prevent denials and facilitate peer-to-peer reviews.

Patient Support: Assist with patient phone triage, answering clinical questions regarding testing, equipment, and compliance.

Lead the daily operations of the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) department.

Conduct CPAP/BIPAP set-ups, mask fittings, and patient education on equipment use and cleaning.

Monitor patient compliance and data downloads to ensure successful therapy adherence.

Manage DME inventory and supply ordering.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
- Previous experience in a sleep lab is required. 2 years of experience is strongly preferred.
- Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
- Adheres to CLIA and OSHA regulations.
- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures
- Experience scoring sleep studies.
- Previous experience working within a DME company or functioning as a DME provider is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, proficiency with EMR systems, and the ability to multitask between clinical and administrative duties.
