Job Summary
The Machinist Level 2 is responsible for assembling, repairing, and fabricating metal components using CNC milling machines and lathes. This role involves building parts into sub-assemblies or complete units while ensuring accuracy by interpreting blueprints and design specifications. The position works under direct supervision and follows established procedures and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC mills and lathes to fabricate and machine metal components
- Assemble machined parts into sub-assemblies or complete units
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances
- Inspect finished parts to verify quality and adherence to specifications
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Report issues or discrepancies to supervisor or manager
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience operating CNC mills or lathes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Basic knowledge of machining processes and tools
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures
- May require completion of an apprenticeship or formal technical training
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Moderate machine operation in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (lifting is not highly repetitive)
- Standing, bending, and moving throughout the shift may be required
Supervision
- Works under direct supervision
- Reports to a supervisor or manager
- Role typically does not require independent decision-making
