Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Garden Center Sales Associate. The ideal candidate is passionate about plants, eager to learn about horticulture, and possesses excellent interpersonal skills. As a Garden Center Sales Associate, you will play a key role in assisting customers, providing expert advice, and contributing to the overall success of our plant nursery.
Responsibilities:
Plant Sales:
- Assisting customers in selecting the right plants for their needs.
- Providing expert advice on plant care and maintenance.
- Processing sales transactions with efficiency and accuracy
Customer Engagement:
- Building rapport with customers and addressing their inquiries.
- Offering personalized recommendations based on customer preferences.
- Creating a positive and welcoming shopping experience.
Horticultural Learning:
- Continuously expanding knowledge of plants and horticulture.
- Staying informed about new plant arrivals, care techniques, and industry trends.
Visual Merchandising:
- Contributing to the visual appeal of the nursery by arranging displays.
- Participating in the design and execution of promotional materials.
Store and Product Maintenance:
- Assisting in the movement of plants within the nursery.
- Performing plant maintenance tasks, such as watering and pruning.
- Cleaning, organizing and tidying up the nursery.
Qualifications:
- Passion for plants and a keen interest in horticulture.
- Strong desire to learn and stay informed about plant varieties and care.
- Personable and able to build positive relationships with customers.
- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred
- Knowledge of plants, flowers, and gardening techniques is a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; Spanish language skills are a bonus
- Proficiency in operating a point-of-sale system (POS)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with customers
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects and perform tasks such as watering plants and arranging displays
