CARPENTRY DEPARTMENT MANAGER

Adirondack Studios (ADKS) is hiring an experienced Carpentry Department Manager with a track record of taking ownership and delivering! Our company designs, builds, and installs the scenic and themed environments you experience in venues ranging from theme parks and casinos to museums, live shows, retail, and public art. The ideal candidate will lead the Orlando Production Carpentry department in producing carpentry and custom fabrication systems and products. Includes static and dynamic (mechanically driven) products and elements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage Carpentry Department personnel in the fabrication, finishing, and quality control of all products to ensure safe, timely delivery. This includes, but is not limited to, work calls, work planning, fabrication planning, hands-on fabrication, and ordering material needs, within budget constraints.

Plan and prepare for all Carpentry Department fabrication needs.

Attendance at project kick-off and weekly meetings.

Collaborating with other departments for workflow needs and efficiencies.

Supervise all department personnel and ensure the efficiency of operations in accordance with company standards.

Manage departmental production, monitor inventory, and enforce safety regulations per company policies.

Manage and maintain departmental tooling.

Create and maintain all necessary paperwork, including material trackers, certifications, and related documents, to meet client-specific General Performance Standards for all Carpentry Department work.

Manage materials, personnel, and workflow to meet established schedule, quality, and budget.

Mitigate potential cost overruns in conjunction with production management and or project management.
Additional Responsibilities:
-
Evaluate and advise on the equipment and space needs of the Carpentry Department to meet increasing capacity needs.

Supervise all shop personnel and ensure the efficiency of operations in accordance with company standards.

Ensure shop personnel are aware of budgeted hours and the schedule for tasks.

Departmental Administrative tasks (scheduling, reporting, budgets, etc.).

Track and report line-item Carpentry expenses as they appear in each work order.

Determine Carpentry material needs for each work order and submit the list to the purchasing agent or designated production buyer.

Determine and submit job inventory lists to the Shipping Manager per schedule.

Inform Project and Production Managers of all budget and schedule overruns or slippage and suggest mitigation strategies.

Maintain a clean, safe, and uncluttered shop space.

Report the percentage-to-complete to Project Management on a weekly basis.

Travel for work as required.
Collaborative Responsibility:
-
To work with creative and technical designers seeking the best approach to building each project. Interface and cooperate with other foremen, managers, and installers as needed to achieve the timely movement and positioning of raw material, as well as partially and fully completed products in the allotted time for the designated profit.

Interface with and provide support and information to sales/estimation, accounting, human resources, project management, and installation personnel.
Required Skills:

Demonstrable team management experience.

Both organizational and communication skills.

Willingness and ability to engage and motivate a team.

Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office, Excel, Word.

Ability to read construction and assembly documents.

High School diploma or equivalent at minimum.

Knowledge of Microsoft Project is a plus

This position will be located in Orlando, Florida, 10 minutes north of Orlando International Airport. Shift is anticipated as Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 2:45 pm. Occasional overtime as required.
