Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will manage the company's accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices while maintaining compliance with financial policies and standards. Your expertise will help support smooth financial operations and foster strong vendor relationships.
Responsibilities
- Process and verify incoming invoices using various accounting software such as Workday, SAP, or QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Perform account reconciliations to verify outstanding balances and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Prepare and record journal entries related to accounts payable transactions, maintaining proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Manage vendor inquiries, resolve billing issues, and communicate effectively to ensure prompt payments.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements, to safeguard company assets.
- Assist with month-end closing activities by reconciling accounts payable sub-ledgers with the general ledger.
- Support other accounting functions such as accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and data entry as needed.
Skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial concepts related to accounts payable.
- Experience working with accounting software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Sage, PeopleSoft or Ceridian.
- Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy; familiarity with 10-key typing is preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll management systems and benefits administration processes is a plus.
- Ability to perform account reconciliation, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping efficiently.
- Excellent analysis skills to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices is advantageous.
