Responsibilities
- Perform blood collection via venipuncture and capillary puncture using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity.
- Accurately label, handle, and process specimens following established laboratory protocols to maintain specimen quality.
- Assist patients of all ages—including pediatrics and geriatrics—by providing compassionate care and clear instructions during collection procedures.
- Enter patient data and specimen information into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Monitor vital signs when necessary, ensuring patient safety during procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment by adhering to infection control standards and proper specimen handling techniques.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals to coordinate specimen collection schedules and report any issues promptly.
Experience
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting or medical laboratory work is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques such as venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical laboratory procedures enhances performance.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
- Experience working within hospital environments or healthcare facilities is advantageous.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and documentation is essential.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely when handling supplies or specimens, maintaining proper body mechanics.
