Dance West is seeking a passionate and dynamic Ballet Instructor to inspire students of all ages and skill levels through the art of ballet. Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive ballet curriculum tailored to diverse age groups and skill levels, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
- Lead engaging dance classes that emphasize proper technique, artistry, and musicality while maintaining a lively and motivating atmosphere.
- Develop choreography for performances, recitals, and special events that showcase students’ progress and creativity.
- Foster a supportive classroom environment by managing student behavior effectively and encouraging positive interactions among participants.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and fellow instructors to track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Incorporate elements of visual arts, theater experience, and creative movement into lessons to enrich students’ understanding of dance as an expressive art form.
- Attend required events like staff meetings and trainings. Showcase, recitals, and competition.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in teaching ballet with a strong background in choreography and curriculum development.
- Demonstrated ability to work with children, and youth programs teaching experience.
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques, behavior management strategies, and special education accommodations.
- Skills in teaching visual & performing arts, theater experience, or working with students in creative arts settings.
- Familiarity with lesson planning for both dance and music components; additional skills in photography or sewing are a plus for integrating arts projects.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate students of all ages while fostering a love for dance and the arts.
Schedule
Our school year season runs from September through May, followed by our summer season from June through August. This position would begin in September 2026.
The weekly nights required for this role are as follows:
- Tuesday 4-9:30pm
- Wednesday 4-9:30pm
- Thursday 4-9:30pm
