The Design Supervisor leads and oversees a team of SBU CAD Designers responsible for developing high‑quality automotive components and assemblies. This role ensures design deliverables meet technical requirements, timing milestones, cost targets, and organizational standards while supporting cross‑functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Team Leadership & People Management – Supervise, mentor, and support a team of designers, providing daily direction, workload prioritization, and technical guidance.
- Design Oversight & Technical Responsibility – Oversee the development of automotive components, assemblies, and detail drawings using CAD tools such as Siemens NX and Teamcenter ensuring designs meet functional requirements, engineering intent, manufacturability, serviceability, and quality standards.
- Project & Program Coordination – Serve as the design point‑of‑contact for assigned programs and concepts, and support standardized proposal development, scope definition, and early concept feasibility when requested.
- Process, Standards & Continuous Improvement – Enforce design standards, best practices, and release processes as defined by engineering and design management to support consistency across designs and identify opportunities to improve design workflows, communication, and efficiency.
- Administrative & Communication Duties – Provide clear, professional communication to internal stakeholders and leadership and support documentation required for HR, accommodations, safety, or compliance processes when needed.
