Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity for residents.
- Collaborate with care teams to develop personalized activity plans that accommodate individual abilities and preferences.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of planned events and spontaneous engagement opportunities.
- Foster an inclusive environment by working with individuals with disabilities or memory care needs, adapting activities as necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation, feedback, and progress to inform ongoing care plans.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote understanding of activity programs and gather input for continuous improvement.
Experience
- Prior experience in recreational therapy within assisted living or nursing home settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and senior care best practices.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care environments enhances your ability to adapt activities effectively.
- Strong communication skills are essential for engaging residents and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
