Process Technician II – Injection Molding
Shift: First Shift (United States)
Work Environment: Our North Carolina manufacturing facility is fully climate-controlled with HVAC for a comfortable year-round working environment.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Process Technician II to join our Injection Molding team. This position is responsible for optimizing injection molding processes, performing mold changeovers, troubleshooting process issues, and maximizing machine uptime, efficiency, and product quality.
The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of injection molding, scientific processing principles, and process optimization, along with the ability to lead changeovers and mentor other technicians.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform complete mold setup, preparation, removal, installation, startup, and process validation.
- Set up and configure robots, auxiliary equipment, and secondary operations.
- Maintain maximum machine uptime and production efficiency within assigned manufacturing cells.
- Monitor production for cycle times, part weights, quality standards, and overall process performance.
- Troubleshoot molding process issues and implement corrective actions to maintain stable production.
- Optimize processing parameters to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and maximize throughput.
- Perform mold changeovers while meeting production schedules and minimizing downtime.
- Assist with mold, material, and process trials, documenting results and recommending process improvements.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Mold Maintenance, Scheduling, and Production teams to improve manufacturing performance.
- Develop, document, and maintain optimized processing parameters for new and existing molds.
- Train and mentor setup technicians on proper mold setup, startup, troubleshooting, and processing techniques.
- Provide technical support to production personnel to improve cycle times, reduce part weight, and increase machine utilization.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
- Complete production and process documentation accurately.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineering, maintenance, and production personnel.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three to four years of injection molding processing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills in injection molding processes.
- Demonstrated ability to identify root causes of processing and quality issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong understanding of injection molding machines, molds, materials, auxiliary equipment, and robotics.
- Experience developing, optimizing, documenting, and maintaining process parameters.
- Ability to coordinate work across production, engineering, maintenance, quality, and scheduling departments.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor technicians.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, safety procedures, technical manuals, and process documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work overtime and adjust schedules as needed to support production.
Preferred
- Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic maintenance experience.
- Scientific Injection Molding training or certification.
- Paulson Practical Injection Molding (Advanced) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with process validation, DOE, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with robotics and automated manufacturing systems.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist, and reach throughout the workday.
- Perform repetitive hand movements, grasping, pushing, and pulling.
- Operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment.
- Work around moving machinery and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Work in environments with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, fumes, and elevated work areas while wearing required PPE.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
