Duties
- Safely operate various types of vehicles including buses, vans, and specialized transport vehicles to pick up and drop off passengers.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting passengers with boarding, exiting, and securing mobility aids or child safety seats.
- Communicate clearly with passengers, dispatchers, and team members using effective verbal skills; often in multiple languages if bilingual.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Manage behavior and ensure safety protocols are followed during transport, especially when working with children or individuals with special needs.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger details, mileage logs, and incident reports as required.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to ensure a secure environment for passengers and staff.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience in bus driving. Both class C and B is needed.
- Proven ability to operate buses or paratransit vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities such as bilingual proficiency are highly valued.
- Experience working with children, seniors, or individuals requiring special assistance; childcare or senior care experience is a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems to perform basic maintenance checks.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Ability to manage behavior effectively and handle challenging situations calmly.
- Knowledge of local routes, traffic patterns, and safety procedures related to school bus driving or paratransit services is advantageous.
