Program Overview
The Idaho HealthCorps (IHC) AmeriCorps program partners community members with non-profits across Idaho. These community members serve in paid volunteer positions called AmeriCorps positions. These positions offer community members the opportunity to receive support while volunteering with their favorite non-profit. The opportunity is offered each year from Sept 1- Aug 31. The IHC program focuses on health screenings, health education, and promotion of overall health.
Position Description
*This is a paid community service opportunity*
The AmeriCorps member will serve with Pocatello Community Charter School as a Student Health Aide to support students’ overall health and well-being in collaboration with trained site staff and deliver health education. The AmeriCorps member will promote health, wellness, and strengthen Idaho support systems. The member will contribute to access to care and clinical support. This role directly supports priority populations while helping improve health outcomes and population well-being. By serving at Pocatello Community Charter School, the member will deliver health education and support overall health of students. members gain valuable professional skills and experience in healthcare, education, nonprofit operations, and engagement. members do not participate in prohibited activities. members do not supplement, duplicate, or displace staff members at Pocatello Community Charter School. members with this program have recurring access to vulnerable populations.
Access to Care & Health Education:
- Support students with disabilities and impairments (such as ADHD, diabetes, developmental delays, autism, and epilepsy)
- Deliver health education to students and at various events

Program Support:
- Assisting host site staff with student interactions
Benefits
- Living allowance of $1,003.80 - 1,087.50 total per month before taxes distributed biweekly (depending on contract length)
- Education Award of $3,697.40 to be used toward qualifying education expenses and student loans
- Student Loan Forbearance and Interest Forgiveness
Requirements
- Must be 17 years or older
- Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
- Pass a background check
- Complete 900 hours of service between enrollment and 8/31/2027
- Participate in required training and service events
- Avoid Prohibited Activities during service
