Eden Life is seeking an experienced Waiver Support Coordinator (WSC) who meets Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) requirements to serve as a Designated Mentor within our Qualified Organization.
This position is intended for an experienced WSC who can maintain an active caseload while mentoring, training, and supporting newly hired Waiver Support Coordinators as they complete APD's required mentoring process.
Applicants must have prior Florida Waiver Support Coordination experience. This is not an entry-level WSC position.
APD DESIGNATED MENTOR QUALIFICATIONS — REQUIRED
To be considered for the Designated Mentor position, the candidate must meet APD requirements, including:
- Minimum of two consecutive (2) years of experience working as a Waiver Support Coordinator (WSC)
- Must maintain an active WSC caseload
- Must have no ethical violations within the past three (3) years
- Must have no unresolved Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) background screening alerts within the past three (3) years
- Must be compliant with all required training established by the iBudget Handbook and Chapter 65G-10, Florida Administrative Code
- Must have passed the Level 1 competency-based assessment with a score of 90% or higher
- Must have no delinquent Corrective Action Plan (CAP) resulting from a QIO review or Agency audit
- Must continue to meet APD mentor qualifications while serving as the organization's Designated Mentor
Candidates must also satisfy all applicable qualifications for employment as a Florida Waiver Support Coordinator.
WSC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Have at least two years of paid, supervised professional experience in developmental disabilities, special education, mental health, counseling, guidance, social work, or health and rehabilitative services
- A master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of the required professional experience
- Meet applicable APD background screening and provider requirements
- Maintain all required APD training and competencies
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a WSC Designated Mentor, you will:
- Maintain an active Waiver Support Coordination caseload
- Mentor newly hired WSCs in accordance with the organization's APD-approved mentoring program
- Provide hands-on instruction, guidance, observation, and feedback to WSC mentees
- Ensure mentees complete all required mentoring activities
- Assist mentees with person-centered support planning and service coordination
- Train mentees on APD requirements, documentation standards, monitoring responsibilities, and iBudget processes
- Guide mentees in identifying and coordinating appropriate waiver and community resources
- Review documentation and case-management practices for accuracy and compliance
- Participate with mentees in required client-related activities when necessary
- Coordinate mentoring activities with clients, legal representatives, providers, and other stakeholders
- Ensure required mentoring activities and client interactions are properly documented
- Evaluate mentee competency and readiness to independently perform Waiver Support Coordination responsibilities
- Complete and sign required APD mentoring documentation
- Ensure the Certification of Mentoring Program Completion is completed and submitted as required
- Work with Qualified Organization leadership to identify and correct training or performance deficiencies
- Promote compliance with APD's Code of Ethics and professional standards
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and Medicaid requirements
WAIVER SUPPORT COORDINATION RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to mentoring duties, the selected candidate will provide WSC services, including:
- Developing and maintaining person-centered support plans
- Coordinating waiver, Medicaid, community, and natural supports
- Monitoring clients' health, safety, welfare, and service delivery
- Conducting required client contacts and visits
- Advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities
- Assisting clients and families with identifying appropriate providers and resources
- Monitoring services to ensure they address identified needs and goals
- Maintaining accurate and timely case documentation
- Coordinating with providers, guardians, family members, medical professionals, and APD
- Completing required APD/iConnect documentation and activities
- Complying with the iBudget Florida Waiver Handbook, APD rules, Medicaid requirements, and Qualified Organization policies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- 3+ years of Florida WSC experience
- Previous experience serving as an APD Designated Mentor
- Experience mentoring or supervising new WSCs
- Current knowledge of APD iConnect
- Experience with iBudget cost plans and support plans
- Experience with Significant Additional Needs (SAN) requests
- Knowledge of APD Quality Improvement Organization reviews and audits
- CDC+ Consultant experience or certification
- Strong documentation and compliance history
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is an experienced Florida WSC who understands that mentoring is more than answering questions. We are seeking someone who can teach new coordinators how to apply APD requirements in real-world situations while maintaining strong ethical, documentation, and client-service standards.
The successful candidate should be dependable, organized, professional, knowledgeable about the Florida iBudget Waiver system, and comfortable taking responsibility for developing new Waiver Support Coordinators.
