Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Janitorial Project Worker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across various facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors alike. The ideal candidate will possess strong custodial skills, experience with cleaning equipment and chemical agents, and a commitment to safety protocols. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the upkeep of essential facilities through diligent cleaning and maintenance practices.
THIS IS A THIRD SHIFT POSITION (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, surface cleaning (stainless steel), dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation using appropriate cleaning equipment.
- Handle chemical agents safely in accordance with safety protocol procedures to ensure effective sanitation without hazards.
- Operate floor buffers, kaivacs and other custodial equipment to maintain high standards of floor care and buffing.
- Perform carpet extractions, operate walk-behind and auto-scrubbing equipment, complete carpet spotting, and operate chariot floor-cleaning equipment.
- Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling of supplies, furniture, or equipment following safe lifting practices.
- Maintain cleanliness in common areas, stairwells, offices, restrooms, and other designated spaces while adhering to sanitation standards.
- Follow safety guidelines consistently to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health regulations.
Qualifications
- Prior custodial or janitorial experience in commercial or residential settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment operation (such as floor buffers), and chemical handling safety procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow safe lifting practices.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on sanitation and cleanliness standards.
- Excellent organizational skills coupled with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication skills for interacting professionally with clients and team members.
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks or porter experience is advantageous.
