Job Overview
ITC is an East Wenatchee-based Industrial Pump & Electrical Contractor with immediate openings for a skilled Welder to cut and join metals and other materials at our facilities or construction sites. You will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions.
As one of the largest irrigation & pump service providers in the Wenatchee & Columbia Valleys, ITC primarily serves the commercial and industrial side of the irrigation industry, but domestic well & landscape irrigation systems are also with in our scope of work.
Experience in the Industrial or Agricultural Industries are a solid PLUS but not required. Certification is a solid PLUS but not required. Pay grade is Dependent on Experience. This is a Full-Time position that requires some evening and weekend overtime during peak season (FEB-JUN). The position will start as temporary with a 60-day evaluation period that leads to a great opportunity for permanent employment depending on your performance. If permanent employment is awarded, your 60-day period will be included in your eligibility for Paid Time off, Health Benefits, & Incentive Programs.
Welder responsibilities include: Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures, determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements, set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws, plasma cutter to match measurements), operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded, align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces, weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead), repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps, test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws, maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
Requirements for this position include:
· Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (stick, wire feed)
· Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
· Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
· Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
· Deftness and attention to detail
· Proficient in English
· Forklift experience
THIS POSITION REQUIRES PHYSICAL LABOR; Applicants should be athletic and able to physically exert themselves, sometimes lifting near 80lbs or push/pull 200lbs. Work is both in shop & outdoors in various weather conditions. This position requires a person that is detail oriented. Applicants must also hold a good sense of safety prevention, since industrial environments often provide unique potential hazards. Applicants must be self-motivated when working alone and have strong verbal communication skills when working with others.
Applicants are REQUIRED to have a Valid Washington State Driver’s License, a High School Diploma or GED Certificate, and Reliable Transportation.
Pay: $21.00 - $34.00 per hour
