Nursing Instructor

Pay: Starting at $90,000/annually
Casa Loma College is seeking a Nursing Instructor who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nursing professionals by facilitating student learning and guiding faculty members who assist with instruction. This position is responsible for delivering engaging, evidence-based education across classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, ensuring students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in patient care.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Nursing Instructor is assigned to facilitate student learning for one or more assigned courses described in the AASN, PN and RN-BSN Program. This includes utilizing effective teaching tools, e.g., audio/visual equipment and reference materials, preparing lesson plans and learning experiences; following an established course outline; managing a classroom of students; evaluating students by testing and other related means; and reporting on and recording class and individual student progress. The instructor may be assigned teaching and faculty guidance duties in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. This position reports to the Director of Nursing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instruct and evaluate students in all areas of the ASN, PN, or RN-BSN program.
- Guide instructional processes of assisting faculty members in assigned courses.
- Participate in evaluation and revision of individual course objectives and content.
- Collaborate with other faculty in the development of effective teaching/learning and retention strategies.
- Actively participate in the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the AASN, PN or RN to BSN Programs.
- Implement the philosophy, mission, learning outcomes, curriculum, and policies of the Nursing Programs.
- Maintain necessary academic records and submit records according to published deadlines.
- Make recommendations regarding retention, dismissal, and readmission of students.
- Evaluate progress and performance of students, in cooperation with other faculty members, and on a continual basis.
- Serve as advisor to students in matters that affect student performance.
- Provide individual tutoring to students, when such assistance is deemed necessary, to improve the student's performance.
- Participate in student orientation, student graduation, and other college activities as requested.
- Evaluate instructional materials and supplies.
- Maintain knowledge of current evidence-based nursing practice and educational methodologies.
- Continually evaluate personal instructional effectiveness through self-evaluation, observation of student performance, and student and peer evaluations.
- Effectively communicate student status and/or progress to other faculty members and the Director of Nursing.
- Participate in faculty meetings and assigned committee meetings.
- Perform various committee tasks as needed.
- Maintain professional competence by participating in on-going clinical practice, continuing education, and professional conferences relevant to faculty responsibilities and clinical specialty areas.
- Uphold ethical and personal standards as described in the ANA Code of Ethics.
- Adhere to all college policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Work Experience
- Minimum of 1 (one) year of teaching nursing experience.
- Minimum of 3 (three) years of clinical nursing experience.
Required Skills
- Must possess a Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation
- Current & unencumbered RN license in the state of Colorado.
- Experience demonstrating teaching abilities within assigned subject area and educational setting (classroom, online, laboratory, clinical) and ability to utilize innovative teaching methods incorporating technology, including online resources.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with online learning platforms and simulation-based instruction
- Familiarity with ACEN standards and competency-based education.
