About Creekside Outdoor Living
Creekside Outdoor Living has been designing and building premium outdoor spaces in Northwest Indiana since 2008. We offer a variety of services to our ever-growing client base, including, but not limited to, landscape construction & design, landscape enhancements, maintenance, fertilization, irrigation & lighting, floral arrangements, and snow & ice removal services.
Our construction volume is growing, and we need someone who can help us create designs that are both beautiful and buildable; premium designs that accurately represent the Creekside brand.
Role and Requirements
We are looking for a landscape designer or landscape architect with strong design ability and a practical understanding of how outdoor spaces are built. We are not looking for someone who only creates attractive concepts. This role is primarily design, but presents opportunities for sales and client facing, based on the specific individual.
We need someone who can take a client’s property, goals, and budget and turn them into a plan that can be confidently presented and built. You will be asked to produce a premium product with a high level of detail. This requires the ability to create upscale living spaces that are inclusive of patios, natural stone, fire features, water features, lighting, irrigation, drainage, and elaborate planting plans. This role requires an understanding of how each of these components, along with site conditions, affect the design and budget.
Design software experience required: One or more of the following
- Structure Studios
- Dynascape
- UVision / Realtime Landscape Architect
- Sketchup / Lumion
Expectations & Responsibilities
- Design premium outdoor living spaces that accurately represent Creekside in 2D & 3D.
- Produce detailed plans, plant lists, material specifications, and scope notes.
- Connect your designs to budget, materials, estimating, production, and client expectations.
- Incorporate premium finishes, cohesive vision, thoughtful material choices, and the right plants for Northwest Indiana conditions.
- Balance creativity with real-world construction constraints.
- Create clean quantity takeoffs to accurately reflect the needs of your designs.
- Participate in presentations with our sales team, both virtual and in-person, based on your comfort level and ability.
- Visit jobsites as needed to understand existing conditions, verify assumptions, and learn from completed work.
- Collaborate with sales and production during handoff so what gets built aligns with what was designed and sold.
- Engage in all team discussions pertaining to both customer and production team experience to ensure future designs & plans continue to improve
- Manage multiple projects at different stages while meeting set timelines and ensuring details are not missed
- Communicating clearly and taking ownership of your work.
What Helps, But Is Not Required
- Landscape Architecture degree or relevant design credentials.
- Familiarity with LMN or similar CRM/estimating software.
- Experience designing outdoor living spaces that were sold and built.
- Client-facing sales experience.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means your designs are attractive, profitable, and buildable.
Sales should feel confident presenting your work. Production should be able to understand and execute it. Clients should feel like the design reflects their property, lifestyle, and budget — not just a template.
A strong designer here creates work that helps sell premium projects, protects margin, improves client experience, and ensures the Creekside brand is always well represented.
How We Work
Creekside is a craftsmanship-driven company. We care about providing high-quality work, operating truthfully, owning and growing from our mistakes, protecting our positive, faith-driven culture, and treating our clients and team well.
You will fit here if you are teachable, humble, detail-oriented, and serious about your craft. This is likely not a good fit for you if you need every idea to be your idea, avoid feedback, or care more about the design than an excellent finished product.
Creekside is growing but becoming a volume contractor, jeopardizing quality, and cutting corners, is NOT where we are heading. We want to grow with the right people, the right projects, and the right standards.
Compensation & Schedule
Base salary range is $50,000–$90,000, depending on experience and ability.
Developing designers will start closer to $50,000. Proven design-build candidates with strong outdoor living portfolios, estimating ability, and client-facing skills can expect a starting salary ranging from $70,000 up to $90,000.
This is a full-time, in-person role based in Northwest Indiana.
Target start date is summer or fall of 2026. We are intentionally hiring for this time of year to allow proper time for onboarding & training.
