American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN with at least 1 year of recent PACU experience for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring heavy on-call and rotating weekend/holiday coverage.

>Acute care PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) at a Level 3 trauma facility
-
Covers both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery, with ratios of 1:1-2 in Phase 1 and 1:3-4 in Phase 2
-
Common cases include ortho, spine, ENT, general, vascular, OB/Gyn, plastics, and uro surgeries
-
ICU patients may recover in this PACU and RNs are expected to read cardiac strips
-
Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
-
Day shift, 10-hour shifts with start times 0900-1000 and end times 1830-1930
-
Scheduling is unit-need based with no self-scheduling
-
Charge nurses take patient assignments and shared nurse aides support pre-op, post-op, and PACU areas
-
Minimal respiratory therapy equipment used, including Bipap and oral airways
-
Heavy call requirements: minimum 1-2 nights per week (1800-0600) and 1 weekend every 2-6 weeks (Fri-Mon), with possible multiple consecutive weekends

Call response time is 30 minutes
-
May float to an attached outpatient surgery center for endoscopy, orthopedic, and pain clinic patients

Rotating holiday and call coverage required

Active WI or compact RN license required by start date

Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA) required

Minimum 1 year of recent PACU experience required

BSN not required for this position

Cerner EMR experience preferred due to unit's current charting system

Provide post-anesthesia recovery care across Phase 1 and Phase 2 for a variety of surgical patient populations

Facility provides scrubs; candidates should have dedicated footwear for the unit

Unit-specific orientation lasts 1-2 days

All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility

Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
-
Previous Marshfield employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
