The Williamson County General Sessions Court is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time Judicial Commissioner (3rd shift). This is a critical role within the judicial system, providing direct support to both the public and law enforcement agencies. The Magistrate’s Office operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position requires availability for overnight hours, as well as weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine probable cause for the issuance of arrest warrants, search warrants and criminal summons
- Set bail, assign conditions of release, and schedule court dates
- Review and authorize involuntary commitments for mental health treatment
- Issue Ex Parte Orders of Protection when good cause is shown
- Communicate with law enforcement and the public on a daily basis
Minimum Qualifications:
- Residency in Williamson County, Tennessee is required
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Ability to complete mandatory continuing education and training
Preferred Qualifications:
- College Degree
- Background in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related legal field
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, multitask and work independently
- Proficiency in computer systems and office software
- Ability to remain neutral and detached while exercising sound judgment in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations
