Bus Driver-CDL (Part Time)
Terms of Employment
Part-time, 174 days, 4 hours per day. Salary is based on experience and per our Classified Salary Schedule (CDL Drivers $22.26-$33.98). This position does not qualify for benefits.
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Transportation Director, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.
Summary
Operate a school bus in order to transport students in a safe and timely manner to, from, and in between schools. Will also transport students on District sponsored activity trips.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintain and promote a professional and defensive driving attitude at all times.
- To drive regular routes, activity trips, and substitute as assigned.
- To perform a daily pre-trip inspection, assuring that all equipment, including safety devices are in a safe and proper operating order.
- To keep daily records of mileage, number of student passengers and vehicle pre-trip inspections.
- Operate school transportation vehicles in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations set forth by district, state and federal agencies.
- To maintain proper student discipline per Board policy, as required to transport all passengers safely.
- To clean interior and maintain equipment in a safe operating condition and to report all defects as soon as possible.
- To report immediately (by radio or telephone) any emergencies, breakdowns, accidents, driving hazards, or incidents of damage or vandalism or delays while in route
- Participate in in-service training programs, such as driver meetings and regional or state institutes and driver training courses
- Attend work and arrive in a timely manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
Confidential Information
- Staff members shall not access, receive, transmit or retransmit material regarding students, parents/guardians or district employees that is protected by confidentiality laws.
- If material is not legally protected but is of a confidential or sensitive nature, great care
shall be taken to ensure that only those with a “need to know” are allowed access to
the material.
- Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in accordance with applicable district policies.
- Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Education and Related Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children preferred
Licenses/Certifications
Criminal background check
Valid Colorado Driver’s License
Must be 20 years of age and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with P and S endorsement
Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol tests
First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire
Must meet District driver insurability requirements
