About the Role
Market by Modern Nest is the retail and furnishing division of Modern Nest, a residential development and design studio known for creating thoughtfully curated homes and timeless interiors.We're looking for a warm, service oriented Market Associate to help create an inviting, elevated shopping experience for every guest who walks through our doors. This role is equal parts hospitality, retail sales, and visual stewardship. The ideal candidate is naturally welcoming, has an eye for design, enjoys building relationships, and takes pride in maintaining a beautiful retail environment.As a member of our team, you'll help bring the Modern Nest point of view to life while supporting daily store operations and ensuring every customer feels inspired, informed, and genuinely cared for.
Customer Experience & Sales
- Welcome every guest with warmth and genuine hospitality
- Build meaningful relationships through thoughtful, personalized service
- Guide customers through purchases by confidently sharing product knowledge and styling ideas
- Support sales goals while creating an authentic, pressure free shopping experience
- Process transactions accurately using our point of sale system
Store Presentation
- Maintain an impeccably presented sales floor that reflects the Modern Nest aesthetic
- Ensure furniture, displays, merchandise, and fixtures remain clean, organized, and beautifully styled
- Restock merchandise and maintain visual merchandising standards throughout the day
- Help create a welcoming store atmosphere through attention to lighting, music, fragrance, and overall presentation
Product Knowledge
- Develop a strong understanding of our furniture, décor, textiles, lighting, and vintage collections
- Communicate product details including craftsmanship, materials, care instructions, and provenance when applicable
- Stay informed on new arrivals, seasonal collections, and featured products
Inventory & Operations
- Receive, tag, price, and merchandise incoming inventory
- Assist with inventory counts and stock replenishment
- Support product entry and inventory accuracy within Shopify
- Maintain an organized stockroom and back of house workspace
- Share customer feedback and purchasing trends with the Market Director
Qualifications
- 1+ year of retail, hospitality, or customer service experience
- Passion for interior design, home furnishings, and thoughtful living
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Comfortable learning retail technology, including POS and Shopify
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evening events
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 30 pounds
- Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods throughout the workday
- Ability to bend, reach, climb ladders, and assist with merchandising displays
- Comfortable assisting with receiving, stocking, and organizing merchandise
