Sous Chef position for Donato Enoteca Restaurant in Redwood City
Donato Enoteca Restaurant in Redwood City is seeking a Sous Chef that is passionate about people, hospitality and authentic Italian cuisine.
This full-time position is responsible for assisting the Executive sous Chef with the overall success of the Food Program. The Sous Chef will collaborate with the Executive sous Chef and Head chef to co-lead a team of staff to create a positive work environment with highly trained and motivated staff to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will have the following duties:
- Responsible for all cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and adjacent area
- menu planning to adjust to guest needs
- Oversees, along with hands on food preparation
- Checks quality of food deliveries
- Conducts a weekly inventory and orders all food and cleaning supplies
- Maintains proper supply levels
- Able to maintain costs within budget levels
- Keep the kitchen properly staffed and manage schedules
- Hires, coaches and disciplines direct reports
- Interacts positively and professionally with staff and customers to resolve issues
- Acts as Manager on Duty as required
Requirements of the position include
- Minimum of 2 years in kitchen management or as Sous Chef
- Basic math skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to exceed expectations of guests and team members
- Excellent time management skills
- In-depth knowledge of restaurant/kitchen operations
