Position Summary and Purpose: A Potbelly Associate's job is to make our customers really happy! It is up to you to provide our customers with an excellent experience by providing fast, friendly and efficient service and by delivering a quality and consistent product every time.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates and reinforces Potbelly’s Behaviors and Values– Integrity, Food Loving, Teamwork, Accountability, Positive Energy, Coaching, Delivering Results through Execution, Building and Inspiring Teams, Creating Potbelly “Fans”-- through all interactions
- Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, etc.) efficiently per Potbelly recipe manual standards
- Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety of shop.
- Maintain personal hygiene standards, including wearing clean Potbelly uniform.
- Comply with established food safety requirements and practices
- Be speedy and accurate in fulfilling orders
- Act with a sense of urgency toward all customers
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy front of house environment by following sanitation standards
- Deep cleaning of storage areas, including refrigerators, drawers, cabinets, etc.
- Restock food line, chips and cooler
- Work multiple stations (load, dress, shakes, cash, prep, front) as directed by Manager
- Operate cash register: handle, balance and follow all cash handling procedures
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly front of house maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Applicant must be able to pass a Federal background check
Non-Essential Responsibilities:
- Help out other employees

- Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 3 hours or as needed, will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry
- Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 3 hours or as needed
- Be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish

- Cash handling experience a plus

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, it is required to stand for prolonged periods, walk, grasp firmly/strongly and simply/lightly with hands, and use fine finger dexterity. This employee is frequently required to bend over, twist, reach above shoulder level, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, and use head and nick in a twisting or static motion and to look up and/or down, push and/or pull, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
This employee is required to work in various temperatures, in a noisy environment, near moving mechanical parts, with dangerous equipment or sharp tools, and around fumes, odors, dust, or toxic chemicals.
