About Casa Origen
Casa Origen Farm Kitchen is a new farm kitchen restaurant opening in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Our concept is centered around clean ingredients, local and thoughtful sourcing, scratch cooking, and a commitment to preparing our menu without seed oils. We believe that food should nourish our guests, our team, and the wider community.
We are building a kitchen culture based on consistency, organization, collaboration, respect, and pride in execution. Every member of the kitchen team will play an important role in delivering the quality and guest experience that represent Casa Origen.
Position Summary
We are looking for experienced, dependable, and organized Line Cooks to join our opening kitchen team.
Line Cooks are responsible for preparing, cooking, and assembling dishes quickly, accurately, and consistently according to Casa Origen recipes, portions, plating standards, and food-safety procedures.
Depending on experience and operational needs, Line Cooks may be assigned to the grill, sauté/range, fry, cold station, or a flexible support position. Team members must be able to maintain quality and composure during service while communicating clearly with the chef, expeditor, and other kitchen employees.
Equally important, Line Cooks are expected to support and represent Casa Origen’s values in every area of the kitchen. We are here to nourish one another, every guest we serve, and our community.
Full-time and part-time positions are available.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute assigned dishes accurately, consistently, and within established ticket-time expectations.
- Follow standardized recipes, portions, cooking methods, and plating specifications.
- Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked station.
- Complete mise en place and verify that the station is prepared before service.
- Cook proteins, vegetables, grains, sauces, and other menu components to the required standards.
- Communicate clearly with the chef, expeditor, and kitchen team throughout service.
- Coordinate timing with other stations so all components of an order are completed together.
- Check the freshness, quality, labeling, storage, and condition of ingredients.
- Monitor station inventory and communicate shortages or prep needs before they affect service.
- Follow food-safety, sanitation, allergen, cross-contact, cooling, holding, and reheating procedures.
- Rotate products correctly and follow established labeling and FIFO procedures.
- Minimize food waste by following portions, recipes, storage procedures, and production plans.
- Properly clean and maintain kitchen equipment, tools, refrigeration, and work surfaces.
- Complete opening, shift-change, and closing responsibilities.
- Support prep, cleaning, receiving, and other kitchen functions when operationally necessary.
- Participate professionally in training, feedback, and continuous process improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
- One to three years of experience working in a commercial restaurant kitchen is preferred.
- Strong fundamental cooking and knife skills.
- Ability to effectively organize, set up, operate, and close a kitchen station.
- Ability to follow recipes and reproduce dishes consistently.
- Understanding of proper cooking temperatures, food storage, sanitation, and allergen handling.
- Ability to work with urgency while maintaining quality, cleanliness, and composure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen team.
- Dependability, punctuality, and readiness to work at the scheduled start time.
- Food Handler certification is required or must be obtained within the required period after hiring.
- Availability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as operationally needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work around heat and kitchen equipment, and perform the physical duties required by the position.
Qualified candidates will participate in a practical interview. The practical assessment will evaluate fundamental culinary skills, station organization, cleanliness, communication, efficiency, recipe execution, and overall approach to working in a professional kitchen.
