Job Summary
Join our non-profit team as a Thrift Store Sorter/Sales where your keen eye and energetic approach will help transform donated items into beautifully curated merchandise for our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently sorting, inspecting, cleaning & preparing a wide variety of items—including clothing, accessories, home goods, and collectibles—ensuring they meet quality standards and are ready for display. Your dedication and organizational skills will directly contribute to creating an inviting shopping environment that encourages repeat visits and boosts store success. Responsibilities
- Sort incoming donations by category, quality, and condition, ensuring proper inspection of all items.
- Clean items
- Organize merchandise according to visual merchandising standards to maximize store appeal.
- Operate material handling equipment safely for heavy lifting and stock movement
- Price items accurately based on store guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sorting area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Assist with inventory control, stock replenishment, and store layout adjustments to enhance customer experience.
- Collaborate with team members on training & development initiatives to improve sorting processes and customer service skills.
Skills
- Proven experience in retail environment preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
- Knowledge of visual merchandising techniques.
- Experience with retail sales, pricing strategies, and POS systems.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment safely; some heavy lifting is required with use of wheel barrel and/or dolly
- Basic math skills for pricing, inventory counts, and retail math calculations.
- Customer service orientation with a friendly attitude toward shoppers and donors.
- Familiarity with retail store practices including merchandising, stock management, and inventory control accepted but not required
