JOB PURPOSE:
The Senior Director, Field Operations develops and drives strategy, vision, and operational excellence across multiple regions and functions. This role influences policy-making and long-term planning (5+ years) while ensuring practices consistently deliver strong clinical, operational, and financial results. The Senior Director provides direction to regional directors and practice leaders, translating corporate strategy into actionable objectives that strengthen market position and sustain company-wide growth.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations
- Provide leadership and oversight of operations across multiple regions, ensuring consistent adoption of the Affordable Care Operating Model.
- Partner with cross-functional executives (Clinical, Lab, Compliance, Marketing, Training) to align field performance with enterprise objectives.
- Ensure patient-centered care is embedded across all practices and aligned with organizational mission and values.
Financial
- Full P&L accountability for assigned regions, ensuring growth, profitability, and long-term financial health.
- Translate operational data into strategy, using advanced analytics to guide decision-making.
- Guide regional directors in financial storytelling, equipping them to connect metrics to strategy.
- Provide regional and company-wide performance updates to VP of Operations and ELT.
Recruit, Hire, Coach, Develop and Build Relationships
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing directors and managers.
- Coach and mentor leaders to build operational discipline, business acumen, and leadership capability.
- Foster strong consultative partnerships with doctors and practice owners, ensuring alignment between business objectives and clinical goals.
- Partner with HR and Talent teams to build succession pipelines and future-ready leadership.
Strategic Leadership:
- Anticipate market and operational trends, shaping strategy to address evolving challenges and opportunities.
- Lead annual and long-range planning cycles for assigned regions, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
- Partner with Marketing, Lab, and Clinical leadership to grow market share and achieve enterprise targets.
- Ensure consistent application of strategic initiatives across regions.
Practice Management:
- Oversee consistent adoption of practice management systems (Dentrix, Weave) and enterprise operating tools.
- Implement practice visit reporting across all assigned regions, ensuring accountability and consistency.
- Evaluate regional training needs and coordinate resources for practice staff and leaders.
- Serve as escalation point for complex or systemic operational issues.
Problem Solving & Support:
- Apply advanced problem-solving and strategy development to address operational challenges across multiple functions.
- Partner with Support Center leaders to address systemic barriers to success.
- Facilitate alignment meetings with regional and practice leaders to ensure strategic clarity.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance across all assigned regions with state, federal, and industry regulations.
- Partner with Compliance and Lab leadership to ensure practices meet or exceed patient safety, service, and quality standards.
- Lead quality initiatives that strengthen long-term organizational resilience.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare management, or related field required; master’s preferred.
- 8+ years in healthcare operations, with significant multi-site and multi-regional leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success leading directors and large teams with full P&L responsibility.
- Strong strategic thinking and long-term planning capabilities.
- Excellent executive communication and persuasion skills; proven ability to influence at the senior leadership level.
- Advanced proficiency in practice management systems and reporting tools (Dentrix, Weave, Power BI).
- Ability to travel extensively across multiple regions.
