Overview
Join our hospitality team as a Banquet Captain, where you will lead and coordinate banquet service operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences. As a Banquet Captain, you will oversee banquet events from setup to service, manage staff, and uphold the highest standards of hospitality and food safety. Your leadership will drive smooth operations, foster teamwork, and deliver memorable occasions for our guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following are essential duties and responsibilities of the Banquet Captain. The Banquet Staff is expected to perform these duties and responsibilities regularly but is not limited to them.
- Responsible for room setups, break downs, and all aspects of banquet service, including food presentation, including table arrangements, decorations and audiovisual equipment.
- Lead and train banquet staff to ensure efficient service delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Oversee food presentation in accordance with safety and quality guidelines.
- Review inventory control for banquet supplies, linens, and food items to prevent shortages or waste.
- Executes event details with Event Coordinator according to the BEO.
- Provide assignment sheets for each banquet and event.
- Effective utilization of schematic room layouts to ensure the event/banquet are set up appropriately.
- Operate POS systems such as Jonas POS for event close out processing and billing accuracy.
- Collaborate with culinary team, Director of Dining Services and Events, Event Coordinator, and Dining Room Manager to coordinate food presentation and placement, timing, and special requests for events.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized banquet area in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of banquet areas before, during and after events.
- Work with the Director of Dining Services and Events, Event Coordinator to ensure banquet staffing coverage.
- Support staff training initiatives focused on customer service excellence, food handling, and hospitality management.
- Attend all required BEO meetings.
- Handles client concerns and special requests.
- Closely monitors guests’ dining experiences to ensure member satisfaction.
- Maintains a strong presence on the floor.
- Ensures that the Banquet staff adheres to Victoria Clubs’ dress code and
- uniform standards.
- Must be able to move around the entire Club, utilizing stairs, elevators,
- paths, and golf-carts.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food service management, catering, or banquet operations within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership skills working with banquet teams.
- Musts be able to communicate in English, both written and spoken.
- Familiarity with food safety management practices and inventory control procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for working with the banquet staff, coordinating with kitchen teams, and engaging with guests.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience in fine dining or casual dining environments; banquet experience is highly preferred.
- Basic math skills for order calculations and inventory management.
- Previous management or assistant manager experience in restaurant or hotel settings is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of the food industry standards related to food production, catering, and event management.
- Strong organizational and punctuality/attendance is a must.
