5 Peaks is seeking a compassionate and motivated Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT) to join our growing School-Based Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist who is passionate about working with children and adolescents in a school setting while gaining valuable clinical experience toward licensure under qualified supervision.
As a School-Based AMFT, you will provide mental health services to students while collaborating with educators, caregivers, and community partners to promote student success and emotional well-being.
What You'll Do
- Provide individual and group therapy to school-aged children and adolescents.
- Conduct mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, Medi-Cal, BBS, and school requirements.
- Collaborate with teachers, school personnel, parents, caregivers, and community providers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards while ensuring confidentiality.
- Attend weekly clinical supervision and staff meetings.
- Travel to assigned school sites within the service area.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related behavioral health field.
- Current California Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
- Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass DOJ/FBI background clearance and all agency pre-employment requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child development, and behavioral interventions.
- Experience in school-based mental health, community mental health, or foster care services is preferred but not required.
