System Administrator
Location: Central Office (Washington, DC); Hybrid Remote — travel required
Position Overview
The System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure operations. This position administers Microsoft Windows environments across both physical and virtual server infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance across distributed federal locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer IT infrastructure systems in a Microsoft Windows environment (Windows 11 / Server 2022)
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and security group policies in Active Directory
- Troubleshoot workstations and servers in both virtual and physical environments
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software across enterprise systems
- Configure, patch, and update operating systems; perform vulnerability management
- Manage patch distribution using MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) and ELMS
- Ensure systems comply with approved security configurations and FISMA requirements
- Configure and troubleshoot workstation and server peripherals
- Provide on-site support at remote BOP/FPI facilities as required (travel may be necessary)
- Submit weekly status reports to the Chief, Customer Support Section
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of IT experience in a systems administration role
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows 11, Server 2022, Active Directory, and M365
- Hands-on experience with SCCM/MECM, SCOM, and patch/vulnerability management
- Experience administering both physical and virtual server environments
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across hardware and software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications / Substitutions
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCP, and/or MCSA certifications may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience
- Experience with SAP user management
- Familiarity with Windows OSD and ServiceNow
Security Clearance Requirement
All candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance prior to commencing work under this contract. Candidates must:
- Have legally resided in the United States for three of the five years immediately preceding performance
- Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident seeking U.S. citizenship
- Be willing to complete e-QIP (Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing)
- Successfully complete fingerprinting (FD-258), OF-306, and all DOJ security documentation
- Comply with DOJ self-reporting requirements throughout the period of performance
Employment Terms
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shift (start between 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM EST)
Work Model: Hybrid remote/on-site; primary remote with occasional travel
Hours: approx. 40 hours/week
Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
