Job Summary
The Engineering Technician supports manufacturing, engineering, and continuous improvement activities within the Minnesota production facility, while also providing occasional support to the prototype operation as needed. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient production processes, assisting with tooling and equipment setup, part programming, supporting validations and engineering projects, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements applicable to the medical device industry. This position will more focused on Swiss Machining Processes.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, technically skilled, and capable of working in both production and prototype environments with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support daily manufacturing operations by assisting with process improvements, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
- Assist engineers with development, improvements, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes and documentation.
- Support setup, testing, validation, and optimization of production equipment, fixtures, tooling, and processes.
- Assist with production and prototype builds, engineering samples, and low-volume development projects as required.
- Perform root cause investigations and help implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, scrap reduction, and productivity.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flows, setup sheets, and engineering records.
- Assist in equipment qualifications, process validations, IQ/OQ/PQ activities, and engineering studies.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Support troubleshooting of CNC machining processes, secondary operations, and inspection-related issues.
- Assist with fixture design, modifications, and process improvements.
- Participate in engineering change activities and documentation updates.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, ISO 9001, FDA regulations, and company procedures.
- Support training of production personnel on new processes, equipment, or procedures.
- Maintain organized engineering records, files, and technical documentation.
- Follow all safety requirements and company policies.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent technical experience in a manufacturing environment may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, machining, medical device, or engineering support environment preferred.
- Experience supporting CNC machining operations is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Familiarity with precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and production support activities.
- Experience with medical device manufacturing and regulated environments is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Basic use of Microsoft Office applications, preferred
- Experience with CAD software or manufacturing systems is a must.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
