Duties
- Measure, cut, sew, and assemble marine canvas and upholstery materials with precision using hand tools and sewing machines
- Repair or replace damaged canvas tops, enclosures, cushions, seats, and other upholstery components on boats
- Operate power tools safely to assist in the manufacturing and installation process
- Customize fabric patterns and designs according to specific boat models and customer preferences
- Install completed canvas and upholstery products onto vessels, ensuring proper fit and secure attachment
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency during all phases of production
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues during fabrication or installation, ensuring high-quality outcomes
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools such as scissors, pliers, measuring tapes, and staple guns for precise craftsmanship
- Experience operating industrial sewing machines for durable stitching in marine environments
- Strong sewing skills with an eye for detail to produce seamless finishes on complex projects
- Background in marine and/or auto restoration is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with similar processes
- Ability to work with power tools safely while maintaining quality standards
- Knowledge of assembly techniques specific to marine applications and materials
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive attitude to meet project deadlines
