Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

A healthcare facility in Eureka, California is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide full-time coverage in an outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic.
The clinic is connected to a chemotherapy treatment center and an acute care hospital. Candidates must have recent hospital-based oncology experience and be able to meet the facility’s credentialing and privileging requirements.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Four weeks of coverage per month
- Morning clinic: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
- Afternoon clinic: 1:00 PM–5:00 PM
- One-hour unpaid lunch
- Eight guaranteed hours per day
- No call responsibilities
- Overtime applies after nine hours per day and must be approved in advance
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage adult hematology and oncology patients
- Conduct patient histories and physical examinations
- Develop and manage treatment plans
- Review laboratory results, imaging, and diagnostic studies
- Monitor patients receiving chemotherapy and other cancer treatments
- Manage treatment-related symptoms and complications
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses and care plans
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and the infusion team
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Coordinate care with the adjoining hospital when necessary
Requirements
- Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Hematology/Oncology experience required
- Active California license
- Current DEA registration
- Board certified or genuinely board eligible
- Current BLS certification
- At least two years of recent hospital-based clinical activity in Hematology/Oncology
- Ability to provide two years of inpatient case logs
- Current CV with a complete work history
- Any employment or clinical gap longer than three months must be explained
Credentialing and Start Date
Candidates with a complete and uncomplicated credentialing file may be considered for temporary privileges and an earlier start. Providers requiring standard credentialing may have a later start date.
Temporary privileges generally require a clean credentialing history without unresolved licensing restrictions, medical board actions, terminations, or other significant professional concerns.
Candidates should be prepared to provide all credentialing documents immediately upon confirmation.
