State College Friends School seeks a part-time, seasonal, hourly Receptionist to support daily school operations. This position is central to the life of the school and is often the first point of contact for students, families, visitors, and community members.
The Receptionist manages the front desk and provides broad clerical support to the school. The role requires strong organization, discretion, clear communication, and the ability to manage many responsibilities at once in an active school environment.
The Receptionist reports directly to the Head of School.
Responsibilities
Front desk and daily operations
- Maintain a welcoming, calm, and orderly front office environment
- Manage entry through the front doors and follow visitor procedures
- Answer phone calls, emails, postal mail & packages, and online messages and route information appropriately
- Serve as a consistent point of contact for families, students, staff, and visitors
Student records and scheduling
- Maintain accurate student, family, and emergency information
- Compile and distribute daily attendance and dismissal information
- Coordinate with teachers and families regarding early dismissals, late pickups, and schedule changes
- Maintain student rosters and classroom lists
Clerical and operational support
- Manage shared spaces and common-use technology
- Maintain the internal Google calendar for school events and activities
- Arrange daily transportation and field trip busing
- Log checks and cash received by the school
Student care and school support
- Assist students with basic first aid or immediate needs and involve appropriate staff as needed
- Support special projects as assigned by the Head of School, Director of Strategic Advancement, and/or Director of School Operations
- Provide general clerical support as needed to ensure smooth school operations
Requirements
This position includes, but is not limited to: moving; bending; walking, including at a fast pace, both indoors and outdoors; lifting up to 50 pounds; kneeling; squatting; sitting on the floor; standing for long periods of time; climbing stairs.
This is an on-site position during regular school days, from Monday to Friday - 7:45am to 12:15pm.
The role involves frequent interaction with students and families, periods of sustained desk work, and regular movement throughout the building.
Start Date: August 12, 2026
Compensation: $16.00 to $19.00 per hour
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
