Position Overview:
FPCA is seeking a Systems Engineer who owns the design, implementation, health, security, compliance, and ongoing administration of the company’s core server and cloud infrastructure across multiple locations. Operating within a collaborative Information Technology (IT) team, this role focuses heavily on system architecture, directory services, data integrity, and cloud environments. This position bridges high-level systems engineering with daily infrastructure administration, while also providing secondary backup support for desktop administration, end-user needs to ensure continuous clinical operations, and networking.
This role requires a high performer who operates with limited oversight and thrives on total project ownership. The ideal candidate is an extremely detail-oriented planner who maps out technical initiatives meticulously and executes them with accurate results. Furthermore, this individual must be a resourceful problem solver who possesses the technical curiosity and research skills to independently figure out and introduce brand-new technologies, as well as deeply diagnose, fix, and optimize existing systems. This dynamic role evolves alongside organizational growth, requiring technical adaptability and an unyielding commitment to maintaining operational continuity and precision across all facets of IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Independent Project Execution & Research: Accept high-level objectives, tasks, and technical projects from the IT Director; independently plan out all deployment steps, timelines, and dependencies, and drive them to completion with limited oversight.
-
Technology Innovation & Discovery: Proactively research, evaluate, architect, and figure out how to successfully establish and integrate brand-new technical solutions and modern systems to drive operational growth.
-
Infrastructure Optimization: Audit, deep diagnosis, troubleshoot, and fix existing systems, ensuring on-premises and cloud performance are heavily optimized for zero clinical downtime.
-
Systems Engineering & Administration: Architect, maintain, optimize, and administer all on-premises and virtualized server environments, ensuring high availability and performance across all physical locations.
-
Cloud Administration: Serve as the primary administrator for cloud-hosted environments (Microsoft Azure), managing cloud infrastructure, identity services, storage configurations, and virtualization.
-
Identity & Access Management: Manage Active Directory, Group Policies, and centralized access controls to ensure secure IAM authentication for staff members.
-
Compliance & Endpoint Security: Design and enforce system-level security baselines, centralized patch management, and automated backup strategies to maintain strict HIPAA compliance and safeguard PHI
-
Operational Redundancy & Team Backup: Crosstrain with the IT team to provide secondary support for application administration, computer deployments & support, resolve helpdesk tickets, end-user support, and networking support as needed to ensure zero single points of failure.
-
Disaster Recovery: Ensure continual testing and operational success for the backup and disaster recovery plans for all environments.
-
Adaptive Operations: Perform other related duties, specialized technical projects, and operational assignments as requested by the IT Director to support changing business needs and organizational objectives.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
-
Performance Tracking: Proven track record as a high performer who delivers accurate, reliable technical results under minimal supervisor oversight.
-
Technical Resourcefulness: Strong foundational ability to research unfamiliar technical issues or new products independently, figuring out solutions without requiring third-party guidance.
-
Project Planning: Exceptional ability to conceptualize, document, plan, and deploy IT infrastructure projects end-to-end with high attention to detail.
-
Experience: 8–10 years of proven experience as a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer.
-
Core Systems: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, virtualization platforms, and Active Directory/IAM architectures (8+ years).
-
Cloud Infrastructure: Demonstrated experience administering cloud environments (Azure, SharePoint, MS365, Entra ID) (5+ years).
-
Healthcare Compliance: Familiarity with HIPAA compliance regulations, data privacy standards, and SOC compliance regulations.
-
Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills across both back-end server infrastructure and front-end desktop/application layers (8+ years).
-
Soft Skills: Excellent collaboration skills with a high degree of operational flexibility to pivot between high-level engineering tasks and technical support initiatives.
