Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer Consultant to support our organization’s grant strategy, applications, reporting, and funder communications. This is a contract position ideal for a self-motivated professional who can work independently while collaborating with leadership to secure funding opportunities that support our mission.
The consultant will help identify grant opportunities, prepare compelling proposals, manage grant deadlines, and ensure timely submission of reports and other grant-related requirements.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities.
- Write, edit, and submit grant proposals and applications.
- Manage grant calendars, deadlines, and submission schedules.
- Prepare grant reports and funder updates.
- Gather program data and supporting documentation for proposals and reports.
- Work with leadership to develop funding strategies and priorities.
- Maintain accurate records of submissions, awards, and reporting requirements.
- Assist with letters of inquiry, sponsorship requests, and other funding-related materials.
Qualifications
- Proven experience writing successful grant proposals.
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations.
- Knowledge of grant reporting requirements and funder stewardship.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Experience with grant tracking systems, spreadsheets, or project management tools is preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience securing foundation and corporate grants.
- Familiarity with workforce development, recovery programs, social services, or nonprofit organizations.
- Experience managing multiple grant deadlines simultaneously.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and scope of work. We are open to hourly, monthly retainer, or project-based proposals.
