Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Safety Director to lead our organization’s safety and health initiatives across multiple construction projects. In this pivotal role, you will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs that promote a culture of safety excellence. Your expertise will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, mitigate risks, and foster a safe working environment for all team members on-site and in the office. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence safety standards at a strategic level while supporting operational success.
Duties:
- Program Development & Compliance
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the company's written safety program, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards (including 29 CFR 1910 and 1926), NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace), and NEC requirements
- Maintain accurate OSHA recordkeeping (300, 300A, 301 logs) and ensure timely reporting of recordable incidents
- Track and manage EMR (Experience Modification Rate) and work to lower it year over year
- Stay current on changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices, updating company policy accordingly
- Job Site Safety
- Maintain training records and certifications
- Conduct toolbox talks and ongoing refresher training for field crews
- Reviews accident and incident reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Incident Management
- Lead investigation of all accidents, injuries, near-misses, and property damage incidents
- Determine root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Manage workers' compensation claims in coordination with HR and insurance carriers
- Prepare incident reports for management and insurance/regulatory bodies as required
- Culture & Communication
- Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, recognition programs, and consistent communication
- Serve as primary point of contact for OSHA inspections, audits, and client safety prequalification requirements
- Communicate safety performance metrics to leadership (incident rates, near-miss trends, training completion)
- Equipment & Documentation
- Oversee inspection, maintenance, and calibration schedules for safety equipment
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) library and hazard communication program
- Manage subcontractor safety compliance and prequalification documentation
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to conduct training.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
· Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
· OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
· Valid driver’s license

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.
· At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Ability to visit active job sites, including climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and working in confined or elevated spaces for inspection purposes.
· Must be able to lift up to 25-50 pounds at times.
· Ability to travel between job sites.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· In-office – flexible work arrangements as needed
· Operating hours: 7:00 am - 4:30 pm
· Standard working hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT:
· Some travel required.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
