We are seeking an experienced Regional Nurse Consultant to support our long-term care and skilled nursing facilities across the region. This position will provide hands-on clinical support, assist with regulatory compliance, strengthen nursing systems, and help stabilize buildings during leadership transitions, survey preparation, staffing challenges, or operational need.
The Regional Nurse Consultant will work closely with facility Administrators, Directors of Nursing, Regional Operations, and clinical leadership to improve resident outcomes, maintain survey readiness, and ensure consistent nursing practices across assigned facilities.
This is a travel position.
Key Responsibilities
Provide regional clinical support to assigned long-term care/skilled nursing facilities
Assist DONs, ADONs, and nursing leadership with daily clinical operations
Support survey readiness and compliance with state and federal regulations
Conduct clinical audits and follow-up reviews
Review high-risk areas, including falls, wounds, infection control, weight loss, psychotropics, incidents, and hospital readmissions
Assist with Plans of Correction and ongoing compliance monitoring
Provide staff education and coaching as needed
Support nursing documentation, care planning, and clinical follow-through
Help stabilize facilities during DON vacancies or nursing leadership transitions
Partner with facility and regional leadership to identify trends and implement corrective action
Travel to assigned buildings based on clinical risk, survey windows, vacancies, and operational priorities
Qualifications
Active RN license required
Long-term care/skilled nursing experience required
Prior DON, ADON, Unit Manager, or Nurse Consultant experience preferred
Strong knowledge of state and federal nursing home regulations
Experience with survey readiness, audits, and Plans of Correction preferred
Ability to train, coach, and support nursing teams
Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills
Ability to travel regionally as needed
Multi-facility experience preferred but not required
