What You'll Be Doing
As the Deputy Director of Budget & Management Services , you will help shape the County’s direction and guide the work that enables long-term stability and strategic investment. You will work with the Budget Director and senior leadership across the organization, bringing clarity to complex policy and financial issues and strengthening the County’s ability to serve a growing community.
You will lead a talented team of budget managers, performance consultants and budget analysts while cultivating a culture of collaboration, trust, and high performance. This role balances people leadership, strategic financial insight, and the ability to build strong relationships with partners at every level.
In this role, you will:
Lead major components of the annual budget process and provide analysis that informs the County’s most significant decisions.
Build strong working relationships with department leaders and the County Manager’s Office to align resources with community and operational priorities.
Directly supervise three Budget Managers who each supervise a team of budget analysts and performance consultants.
Mentor direct reports and their respective teams, cultivating a culture of growth, empowerment, accountability, and service.
Champion process improvements and technology enhancements that increase transparency, efficiency, and impact.
Navigate complex issues, develop well-reasoned solutions, and communicate recommendations and alternatives in a way that builds understanding and confidence.
Represent the Director when needed and lead special projects that move the organization forward.
Successful candidates will be strategic thinkers and effective communicators who lead with empathy and resilience. They must understand how to drive system-wide improvements while supporting frontline staff and internal clients.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Finance, Policy or related field
Seven years (7) of experience in budget, finance and/or policy analysis including at least three (3) years of supervisory experience
Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Hiring Range: 117,083.00 - 163,922.00
Market Range: 117,083.00 - 210,759.00
