Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers and skid steer loaders.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, hydraulic system checks, tire service, brake repairs, and engine tune-ups to keep equipment operating at peak efficiency.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using hand tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to ensure custom solutions fit specific machinery requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC components, and other complex mechanical systems with precision.
- Assist in heavy lifting operations during repairs or assembly processes while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed service records for each piece of equipment including repair history, parts used, and inspection reports to support ongoing maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with operations manager to communicate repair needs clearly.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience working with heavy construction or industrial equipment preferred.
- Strong Knowledge of excavators and misc. light equipment preferred.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with assembly processes is a plus.
- Skilled in automotive diagnostics with expertise in diesel engine repair, brake repair, transmission servicing, hydraulics, suspension systems, and tire service.
- Experience operating heavy equipment safely on job sites along with understanding of heavy lifting procedures.
- Knowledge of electrical systems within industrial machinery combined with mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting diverse issues efficiently.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively while maintaining safety standards at all times.
