The Assistant/Associate Director of Conflict Resolution Programs provides leadership for The Mediation Center's volunteer mediation program, court-connected services, community partnerships, and professional training initiatives. This position is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer mediators; strengthening relationships with courts and community partners; ensuring compliance with Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution (GODR) standards; and developing systems that expand the reach and impact of mediation services throughout the community.
Working closely with the Director of Mediation and Family Law and the Executive Director, this leadership role helps shape organizational strategy, build program capacity, and advance innovative conflict resolution initiatives that increase access to justice and strengthen communities.
This position provides oversight across conflict resolution programs, court-connected mediation services, volunteer engagement, community initiatives, workplace mediation, professional training, and administrative infrastructure. The Assistant/Associate Director contributes to high-level decision-making, cross-departmental collaboration, and the long-term success of programs serving families, courts, organizations, and underserved communities.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position directly supervises three full-time staff members. Responsibilities include establishing performance expectations, providing coaching and mentorship, conducting performance evaluations, supporting professional development, and ensuring staff work aligns with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Development
- Lead the development, coordination, and/or delivery of mediation and conflict resolution trainings, including General Civil, Domestic Relations, Specialized Domestic Violence (SDV), and Probate curricula.
- Develop innovative conflict resolution initiatives that expand community impact and organizational sustainability.
- Design and improve systems that increase the effectiveness, efficiency, and reach of mediation services.
- Identify opportunities to expand services, partnerships, and funding opportunities.
- Ensure all programming aligns with The Mediation Center's mission, strategic plan, and organizational priorities.
Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and Engagement
- Lead the organization's volunteer mediator recruitment strategy.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, train, mentor, and retain volunteer mediators.
- Develop meaningful volunteer engagement and recognition initiatives.
- Build a strong pipeline of diverse volunteer mediators throughout the region.
- Provide coaching, quality assurance, and ongoing professional development opportunities for volunteers.
- Evaluate volunteer performance and ensure high-quality mediation services.
Conflict Resolution Programs and Quality Assurance
- Oversee day-to-day operations of conflict resolution programs, including:
- Court-Connected Mediation Services (Civil, Domestic, Juvenile, Probate)
- Community Mediation Services
- Workplace Mediation
- Community Conflict Resolution Initiatives
- Maintain the organization's good standing with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution (GODR), ensuring compliance with all certification, ethical, training, and renewal requirements.
- Monitor mediation quality, service delivery, and program effectiveness.
- Recommend improvements that enhance client experience and operational efficiency.
Strategic Leadership
- Support the development and implementation of long-range strategic plans for conflict resolution services.
- Monitor trends in ADR, restorative practices, volunteer engagement, and court-connected services.
- Recommend innovative service models and community partnerships.
- Collaborate across departments to strengthen organizational impact.
Staff Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise and support managers, coordinators, and program staff.
- Mentor contract trainers, facilitators, interns, and volunteers.
- Foster a collaborative, mission-driven, and high-performing team culture.
- Establish accountability structures and encourage continuous professional growth.
Community Engagement and Partnerships
- Build and strengthen relationships with courts, attorneys, government agencies, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations.
- Represent The Mediation Center at community meetings, conferences, trainings, and public events.
- Promote mediation and conflict resolution services throughout the region.
- Identify opportunities for collaborative programming and community education.
Data, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and program evaluation.
- Utilize outcome data to guide program improvements and strategic decisions.
- Prepare reports for leadership, funders, courts, and governing bodies.
- Support grant reporting and contract compliance.
External Relations and Organizational Representation
- Represent the organization with professionalism in community partnerships and statewide ADR initiatives.
- Assist with presentations for the Board of Directors, funders, judges, community stakeholders, and partner organizations.
- Serve as an ambassador for The Mediation Center's mission and programs.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience in mediation, conflict resolution, alternative dispute resolution, restorative practices, or closely related fields.
- Experience supervising staff, volunteers, or complex programs preferred.
- Demonstrated success in volunteer management, program development, community engagement, or nonprofit leadership preferred.
- Experience working with courts, legal systems, or community-based organizations is highly desirable.
Certifications
- Registered with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution (GODR) in General Civil Mediation within 6 months of hire date (required).
- In good standing with GODR or eligible to meet all requirements for maintaining good standing (if applicable).

Compensation
Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, certifications, and demonstrated leadership capacity.
