Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Louisville, KY
Schedule: 12-hour shifts | 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM | 3 days/week
Hours: 36 hours/week
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to support hospital-wide sterile processing operations. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures, and central sterile standards.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills while working effectively as part of a healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, processing, sterilization, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment.
- Ensure instruments and equipment are properly processed according to established hospital protocols and sterile processing standards.
- Prepare and distribute sterile supplies and equipment throughout the hospital.
- Follow established policies, procedures, infection prevention practices, and safety standards.
- Inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and proper condition before sterilization and distribution.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to sterile processing activities.
- Prioritize workload effectively based on patient care and departmental needs.
- Collaborate with clinical and hospital staff to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies and equipment.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail throughout all stages of the sterile processing cycle.
- Utilize basic computer skills for documentation and departmental activities.
- Apply critical-thinking and problem-solving skills when addressing processing or equipment concerns.
- Participate in required quarterly competencies and ongoing departmental training.
- Maintain compliance with applicable central sterile standards and hospital requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification.
- Certification must be obtained through IAHCSMM/ HSPA or CBSPD.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and experienced Sterile Processing Technician with at least two years of hospital sterile processing experience and an active CRCST or CSPDT certification. The candidate should be comfortable working independently and within a team while managing competing priorities and maintaining strict standards for sterilization, infection prevention, and patient safety.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
