Granite CNC Operator – 5-Axis Saw & Router

Position summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Granite CNC Operator to operate and maintain 5-axis saw and CNC router equipment in our Kalispell, Montana facility. This position will fabricate granite, quartz, quartzite, marble, and other natural and engineered stone products for residential and commercial projects.
The ideal candidate has experience with CNC stone fabrication, understands shop drawings and digital layouts, and is committed to producing accurate, high-quality work while following all safety procedures.
Responsibilities
● Set up, operate, and monitor 5-axis saws and CNC routers.
● Program, load, and adjust CNC files, toolpaths, and machine settings.
● Review shop drawings, digital templates, measurements, and production requirements.
● Perform precise cutting, shaping, sink cutouts, drain boards, edge profiles, radius work, and other custom fabrication.
● Verify material type, slab orientation, dimensions, thickness, and finished requirements before machining.
● Use measuring tools to inspect parts for accuracy and quality.
● Make appropriate machine, tooling, feed-rate, and program adjustments.
● Monitor water flow, tooling condition, machine performance, and production quality.
● Troubleshoot basic equipment, programming, and tooling issues.
● Communicate with designers, programmers, fabricators, installers, and management regarding project details.
● Safely move and position slabs using cranes, A-frames, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
● Perform routine machine cleaning, maintenance, and housekeeping.
● Follow company policies and safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
● Help meet production schedules while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.
Qualifications
● Previous experience operating CNC stone fabrication equipment required.
● Experience with a 5-axis bridge saw, CNC router, or combination saw/router strongly preferred.
● Experience working with granite, quartz, quartzite, marble, porcelain, or other slab materials preferred.
● Ability to read shop drawings, templates, CAD layouts, and production instructions.
● Knowledge of CNC programming, digital templating, toolpaths, and nesting is a plus.
● Strong understanding of measurements, dimensions, angles, and basic shop math.
● Ability to inspect finished work and identify defects or dimensional issues.
● Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
● Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a production team.
● Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
● Valid driver’s license preferred.
● Prior experience with forklifts, overhead cranes, vacuum lifters, or other material-handling equipment is a plus.
Physical requirements
This position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and working around water, stone dust, noise, and industrial machinery. The successful candidate must be able to safely handle and position heavy stone materials with appropriate equipment and team assistance.
