Position Summary
The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of a fleet of commercial vehicles, coordinating preventive maintenance, ensuring DOT compliance, managing vendor relationships, and minimizing equipment downtime. This position works closely with Operations teams to support reliable and efficient delivery operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all fleet maintenance activities for company-owned and leased equipment.
- Schedule and monitor preventive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate vehicle repairs with outside vendors and service providers.
- Track maintenance costs, repairs, warranties, and service history.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate fleet records and regulatory documentation.
- Assist with vehicle inspections, registrations, permits, and licensing requirements.
- Monitor vehicle utilization and downtime to maximize fleet availability.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and coordinate emergency repairs.
- Work closely with drivers to identify and resolve equipment concerns.
- Assist with budgeting and cost-control initiatives related to fleet maintenance.
- Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate service solutions when appropriate.
- Support accident investigations and vehicle damage assessments.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the transportation department.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of fleet maintenance or transportation supervisory experience.
- Experience managing medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Experience working with outside maintenance vendors.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and fleet management software.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
- ASE certification or mechanical background is preferred.
