Summary: Kennel Technicians work in the kennels as a team to ensure safe, sanitary, and secure facilities for all shelter animals and the public as well as the humane handling and care of all shelter dogs. Must be able to maintain effective, cooperative, and professional working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and board members. This is a very physical job. Minimum of 1 year kennel/clinic setting experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Cleaning/sanitizing of all kennels, cages, animal holding areas, and other clinic areas.
- Doing laundry, dishes, and restocking of supplies.
- Must be able to take direction, be detail-oriented, punctual, and must love/respect animals.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and walk/hold large dogs (80 lbs. or more) on outdoor walks.
Work environment:
- Lifting and moving dogs and cages, frequent movement, including but not limited to, standing, walking, stooping, carrying heavy loads, movement of cages, restraining active dogs.
- Working with strong cleaning agents on wet surfaces.
