Senior Accountant / Tax Accountant Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant / Tax Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, prepare tax filings, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent organizational abilities, and experience managing multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple companies.
- Maintain accurate general ledger and journal entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare financial reports for management.
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
- Manage accounts receivable, collections, and customer account reconciliations.
- Process customer invoicing and monitor aging reports.
- Oversee accounts payable, vendor payments, and expense approvals.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate cash flow reporting.
Banking & Cash Management
- Perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Monitor company cash balances and cash flow.
- Process ACH, wire transfers, and check payments.
- Assist with banking relationships, financing, and loan documentation.
Tax Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Prepare payroll tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and business tax filings.
- Assist with tax planning strategies and year-end tax preparation.
- Coordinate with external CPAs and auditors as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all tax laws and filing deadlines.
Payroll
- Process payroll accurately and on time.
- Maintain payroll records and employee tax documentation.
- Prepare quarterly and annual payroll reports.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Support audits and provide requested documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA license preferred but not required.
- 1+ years of accounting experience.
- Experience preparing business and individual tax returns preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, Epicor Eclipse, or similar ERP/accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple companies and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- S Corporations, LLCs, Partnerships, and Trusts.
- Multi-entity accounting.
- Construction, wholesale/distribution, or real estate industries.
- Financial statement preparation.
- Tax planning and compliance.
- Bank reconciliations, AR/AP management, and cash management.
