American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Orthopedics unit position requiring a valid NC or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.

Work is performed on a 32-bed orthopedic unit (floor 6J) in a hospital setting
-
Day shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 6 RNs, 1-2 LPNs, 3 PCTs, and 1 HUC; night shift includes 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, 1-2 LPNs, 2 PCTs, and 1 HUC
-
Patient ratios are 5:1 on days (6:1 stretch) and 6:1 on nights (7:1 stretch)

Scheduled shift is 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour day shift)

Every other weekend is required

Floating to other Med-Surg units is required

EMR system is Cerner
-
Equipment used includes walkers, bedside commodes, bladder scanners, CPM machines, sky lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Lift, Maxi Move, vital sign machines, hover mats, Bair Huggers, and wheelchairs

Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in orthopedics or a related specialty

Hospital experience preferred; orthopedic experience preferred

US SSN and DOB required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted

One professional reference required
-
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Common procedures on this unit include dressing changes, suture/staple removal, Foley catheter insertion, NG tube placement, and wound vac maintenance and removal

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted

RNs are required to wear navy scrubs
