Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our early childhood education team as a Teacher in Training to become an Assistant Director. This paid position offers a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills while gaining comprehensive classroom experience. You will work closely with experienced educators and administrators to learn best practices in curriculum development, classroom management, and child development instruction. Responsibilities
- Assist with daily classroom activities, ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children
- Support curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to various age groups, including toddlers and preschoolers
- Implement early intervention strategies and behavior management techniques to promote positive social-emotional development
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, needs, and milestones
- Contribute to classroom management by maintaining organized learning spaces and fostering inclusive participation
- Support teachers in applying childhood development principles
- Participate in training sessions on mandated reporting laws, child welfare, first aid, CPR, and other safety protocols
Skills
- Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar early childhood settings
- Strong knowledge of child development, childhood education, and preschool teaching methodologies
- Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques
- Excellent communication skills for parent engagement and team collaboration
- Ability to manage behavior effectively and adapt teaching approaches to individual children’s needs
- Knowledge of mandated reporting laws, child welfare practices, and health & safety standards such as first aid and CPR
- Strong working knowledge of SC DSS rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated classroom experience with toddlers or preschool-aged children
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and enthusiasm for teaching
The Assistant Director is the master teacher who leads by example, modeling excellent teaching and positive behavior management for our teaching staff. You will be the acting director when the Director is not available. You will be responsible for managing workload for staff, ensure the facility maintains the highest level of cleanliness, safety and professionalism.
Pay: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour
