Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our busy accounting firm. This person is responsible for maintaining accurate, organized and timely financial records for client accounts. this role supports recurring bookkeeping, reconciliations, client reporting, sales taxd and tax preparation support. The right person will be able to manage multiple client accounts without losing accuracy and follow-through.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly, quarterly, annual, and as-needed bookkeeping services for clients.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, payroll records, and other financial accounts.
- Record, review, and reconcile transactions with strong attention to accuracy and documentation.
- Prepare and review Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss reports.
- Adjust bookkeeping schedules based on client needs, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, or custom schedules.
- Track unusual, unclear, or complex transactions with clear notes and supporting documentation.
- Communicate with clients to gather missing information and clarify transactions.
- Process payroll and payroll tax filings as assigned.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns accurately and on time.
- Support tax preparation through document gathering, data entry, reconciliations, and bookkeeping cleanup.
- Collaborate with the tax team to ensure bookkeeping records align with tax preparation needs.
- Maintain organized digital records, workpapers, reports, and client files.
- Protect client confidentiality and data security at all times
- Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, ideally with a background in corporate or governmental accounting
- Strong proficiency with financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, Ceridian, Kronos, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of SOX compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations and experience implementing related controls is a plus
- Familiarity with GAAP standards and technical accounting practices
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliations, balance sheet analysis, and journal entries accurately
- Excellent numeracy skills with high attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and handling customer inquiries confidently
Qualifications
- Prior bookkeeping, accounting support, or related finance experience.
- Experience with reconciliations, financial reports, payroll support, and sales tax filings.
- Ability to work with QuickBooks, bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, payroll systems, client portals, and digital files.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify missing, inconsistent, or unusual information.
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines across multiple client accounts.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of confidentiality, discretion, and professional judgment.
