We are currently looking for a Team Leader to join our team in our wood plant on 2nd shift (4X10) in the Holland, MI (One Haworth Center) facility.
Schedule
3:00pm-1:30am, Monday-Thursday. OT schedule is 8 hours on Fridays as required. No Saturdays or Sundays (unless you volunteer)!
As a Team Leader, you will:
Leads team to meet safety, quality, schedule, cost, culture, and environmental goals through effective coaching and training to distribution/production team members. Actively assumes production job responsibilities of any team member. Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of experience working in a team based manufacturing environment
Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial truck (hilo) certification
Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship
Ability to lift/move products weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to work comfortably when exposed to noise, dust, fumes, dirt, solvent, glue, grease, oil, paint, heat, and/or vibrations.
Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.
Ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance
Military Equivalency at www.mynextmove.org/vets/find/military Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with machinery such as nip presses and similar equipment
Proven experience troubleshooting machinery with strong problem-solving skills
Demonstrated leadership experience with diverse teams
Exceptional communication skills
Experience in conflict resolution and team dynamics
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate flexibility in a dynamic environment
Knowledge in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
Lean manufacturing training or certification
Industry experience in manufacturing, preferably in office furniture or automotive sectors
Relevant certifications or licensures (e.g., Powered Industrial Truck (PIT)) Essential Functions
Launches daily work schedule within the department/area:
Determines and posts daily/weekly schedules for employees.
Confirms daily attendance and labor needs to ensure adequate staffing to meet schedule.
Queries daily production/shipping schedule and determines employee assignments.
Collaborates with team leads in other areas to deploy labor.
Updates production metrics.
Serves as communication conduit between leadership and line employees:
Relays organizational priorities, current schedule and productivity information, and employee updates during team meetings and via team boards; updates and maintains team boards.
Ensures work is appropriately handed over to subsequent shift, and all cross-shift communication is completed.
Responds to and refers individual employee inquiries by reaching out to appropriate organizational representative, (e.g. supervisor, HR, payroll, etc.). Actively listens to employees to build trust and enhance team relationships.
Administers vacation policy.
Conducts scheduled GEMBA walks and audits (safety, quality, 5S):
Reports concerns or problems to appropriate representative (safety, quality, engineering, etc.) and notifies supervisor.
Actively participates in investigating and resolving identified issues.
Researches and resolves production problems (e.g. parts shortages, supply chain disruptions, and machine downtime), and communicates status to all affected areas:
Tracks down missing product and expedites “Hot” products to complete schedule (may often require personally producing new parts).
Identifies and searches for solutions to ongoing issues
Trains employees and provides guidance on new processes:
Updates and maintains departmental Statements of Work (SOW).
Updates individual employee training records.
Completes error reports, alerts supervisor and may provide employee feedback.
May serve as supervisor back-up, overseeing operations in supervisor absence. Attends Tier 2 and may attend Tier 3 meetings.
Participates in and may lead continuous improvement activities and/or Haworth production system projects.
May assume other individual responsibilities, such as participate in new hire orientation or perform production control coordinator duties, based on area of expertise or interest.
Rotates through department work centers based on business need.
Works overtime as needed.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
