Do you see content everywhere?
Someone says something funny and you're already thinking about the video.
You notice a good story other people walk right past. You know when something would make a great Reel or TikTok. You're comfortable pulling out a phone or camera, talking to people, shooting it, editing it and turning it into something people actually want to watch.
If that sounds like you, we want to talk.
Matt's Automotive Service Center is looking for a full-time Social Media Content Creator to join our marketing team and help us tell the stories happening across our company every day.
And you don't need to know everything about cars.
We can teach you our company and the automotive industry. We're looking for someone who is creative, curious, comfortable around people and knows how to turn real moments into great content.
What You'll Actually Do
This isn't a job where you'll sit at a desk all week trying to figure out what to post.
Our shops are full of team members, guests, vehicles, repairs, personalities, community involvement and stories. Your job is to get out there, find the good stuff and turn it into content.
You'll:
- Spend time in our locations finding stories and content opportunities
- Shoot photos and video of our team members, guests, vehicles and shops
- Create Reels, TikToks, Shorts and other social content
- Interview and feature team members, guests and community partners
- Edit short-form video into finished content
- Write captions that sound like us
- Help schedule and publish content across our social channels
- Follow trends and find ways to make them relevant to Matt's
- Help develop recurring content ideas and series
- Capture company events, community involvement and behind-the-scenes moments
- Keep photos, videos and other content organized and easy for the marketing team to use
- Work with the marketing team on campaigns, priorities and new ideas
- Pay attention to what's connecting with people and help us create more of it
We're not looking for someone who needs to be handed every idea.
We want someone who can walk into one of our shops, spend time with our team and guests, and start seeing opportunities for content.
Who We're Looking For
You don't need the perfect resume or a specific degree.
What matters more to us is whether you can create, communicate with people and bring ideas to the table.
You may have built those skills creating content for a business, your own social channels, freelance clients, school, organizations, photography or videography projects, or somewhere else entirely.
You'll probably be a good fit if you:
- Naturally notice interesting people, moments and stories
- Understand what makes someone stop scrolling
- Are comfortable approaching and talking with people
- Can make people feel comfortable on camera
- Can shoot quality video with a phone or camera
- Have experience editing short-form video
- Understand platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube
- Have experience with tools such as CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop or similar programs
- Can write clearly and conversationally
- Stay organized with photos, videos, projects and deadlines
- Can take direction while also bringing your own ideas
- Are comfortable working independently when you're out capturing content
- Are willing to try things, learn from the results and continue getting better
- Represent Matt's professionally around our team members, guests and communities
This Job Isn't Just in One Location
One of the biggest parts of this role is getting into our shops and capturing what's actually happening.
You'll regularly travel between Matt's Automotive Service Center locations to work with our teams and create content.
Our marketing team is based in Fargo, and you'll also travel to our Minneapolis-area locations approximately 3–4 days per month, and occasionally more depending on what is happening within the company.
A company vehicle is provided for business travel between locations and for trips to our Minneapolis-area locations.
A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.
You'll Be Part of a Marketing Team
You won't be expected to figure all of this out by yourself.
You'll report directly to our Marketing Manager and work as part of our marketing team alongside our Digital Marketing Specialist and company leadership.
You'll have direction around our brand, campaigns and priorities, while also having room to bring ideas forward and help shape the content we're creating.
We're looking for someone who can become the person on our marketing team who is consistently out where the stories are happening.
Schedule
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position based in Fargo.
Because content doesn't always happen on a perfect schedule, there may occasionally be events or opportunities outside normal business hours. Flexibility will sometimes be part of the job, but this is not intended to be a nights-and-weekends position.
Show Us What You've Made
For this position, your resume only tells us part of the story.
We want to see what you can create.
If you have TikToks, Reels, YouTube videos, photography, business content, school projects, freelance work or other creative work you're proud of, send us examples.
It doesn't have to come from a professional marketing job. We're interested in your creativity, how you tell a story and what you can do with an idea.
Interested?
Apply through Indeed and tell us a little about yourself.
If you have examples of your work, include a link or let us know where we can find them.
If you're creative, enjoy being around people, like telling stories and want a job where you won't be sitting in the same place doing the same thing every day, we'd like to hear from you.
